We received the call almost four months ago – three days after Charles had accepted his new job offer in North Carolina.
“It” had been hiding its cowardly self behind a mask of unassuming symptoms – waiting to jump out when we all least expected it. One of the few things in life that I literally hate had dared wrap its evil throughout the lung and back muscles of one of the dearest people in my life – THE true Proverbs 31 woman and someone I can only ever hope to emulate: my beautiful mother-in-law, Robin.
When we received the news we were devastated… but Robin’s positive outlook on everything has been full of holiness; in fact, her very first words to me were “It’s not pretty, but this is His opportunity to shine!” Throughout this entire battle she’s clung to that Truth with a unique sense of peace & courage that is to be envied.
Everyone needs a “Robin” in their lives; she’s a “Chapel Hill Celebrity” in so many ways & is beyond words incredible. She’s also the true picture of what it means to live life like our Creator calls us to; her immense love for others & life is contagious & she carries pure Joy wherever she goes. Robin lives & breathes Christ in all that she does & purposes to find the beauty in every single thing. If there were to be a photo next to Proverbs 31, Robin’s picture would absolutely be front & center. Ask anybody and everybody she’s ever interacted with! I promise you it isn’t just me & my own opinion – it is the absolute truth.
We are thankful for all of the love & support that has surrounded the Britt household & are confident that this little “storm” is merely something that will allow Him the “opportunity to shine” even brighter during this Christmas season.
