TOM + MAYTE | ENGAGED

“I knew when I met you that an adventure was going to happen! “
– A.A. Millie –

Nicholas Sparks only wishes he could accurately depict a relationship as beautiful as Tom & Mayte’s. These engaged college sweethearts are just that perfect together. Whether they’re kayaking whitewater, scaling mountainsides, or simply enjoying one another’s company over drinks & dinner, their love for one another, adventure & life in general is contagious! When these two are together, their laughter & smiles are not only constant, but also 100% genuine. It is evident to any observer that Tom & Mayte absolutely & completely adore one another! This relationship has stood the test of time in more ways than one & I am so excited to watch these two grow together in their upcoming marriage.

The combination of Mayte’s overall giddiness with Tom’s sense of humor made this engagement session so much fun! It’s not often that you have a couple who is instantly comfortable at being themselves in front of the camera – but these two wasted no time doing so & thus made their engagement session one of my favorite sessions to date!

TWENTY-FOURTEEN

“I’m choosing happiness over suffering, I know I am. I’m making space for the unknown future to fill up my life with yet-to-come surprises.”
– Elizabeth Gilbert  |  Eat, Pray, Love –
Hello! 2014

Happy Monday!  The first Monday of a new year is always the best one of the entire year in my opinion… fresh beginnings all around!

Like so many others, I look forward to stepping into a new year refreshed & ready to conquer everything that is to come. Unfortunately, 2014 began in quite the opposite way. Thanks to a healthy dose of the flu, I have since spent the past seven days battling it by way of every remedy possible (hello there, green juices, apple cider vinegar, organic oregano & essential oils, hot ginger tea, crushed garlic with raw honey & homemade chicken soup).
What a way to start off a new year, huh?

I’m a strong believer that the first few days of a new year really shape what is to come in the following 365 days… and, despite “the plague of the flu”, I love that the first few days of twenty-fourteen were marked by lots of solitude, reading, journaling, & prayer. All of these things are disciplines I had included in my personal goals for the year & by way of twisted fate, the flu forced me to waste no time in implementing these goals!

2013 was one crazy-exciting year of growth for the Britts & I can hardly wait to see what unfolds in 2014. I am SO thrilled to be working with several beautiful brides & clients this year & looking forward to turning some long-term dreams into a reality.

I hope your new year is off the best beginning – I’ll be back later this week to share a Chapel Hill Engagement session!

CHRISTMAS 2013 | VIDEO

“Those Christmas lights, light up the street.
Maybe they’ll bring her back to me.
Then all my troubles will be gone,
Oh Christmas lights, keep shining on…”
–  Christmas Lights   |   Coldplay  –

I have so many video clips stored on my hard drives & didn’t want this year’s Christmas clips to end up there too without ever being put to use –  enjoy a little inside scoop of Christmas 2013 with the Britts!

CHRISTMAS 2013 | A PHOTO RECAP

“Christmas waves a magic wand over the world & behold, everything is softer & more beautiful…”
– Norman Vincent Peale –

This year our Christmas was very, very different for a number of reasons; in some ways it was harder & in others, more meaningful. Despite all that’s been going on, the magic wand of the holiday season did not fail in allowing its joy to sprinkle down & soften the hard edges of life, which allowed beauty to shine through in a way I had not experienced before.

Christmas Eve was spent with Charles’ family (complete with live music, champagne toasts, incredible food, great speeches & lots of laughter) in Chapel Hill; on Christmas morning we drove two hours to spend the day with my family, where we lounged around in our pajamas the entire day. Everything was simple & quiet & cozy, just the way I like it.

Here’s just a little peek into our celebrations:

HOLIDAY SESSIONS

The Holiday Sessions that fill up the margins of my November & December calendars are a few of the highlights of the entire Christmas season for me. Nothing makes my heart as full as watching families laugh & enjoy the company of one another… and when you add this to a day when everyone is decked out in their cozy sweaters & cute little boots, I’m sold!I don’t typically share Holiday Sessions on here because there are so many… but today, before all of the magic of the season is packed neatly into boxes for another year, I wanted to share just a few* of my favorite photos from this year:

I hope everyone has had a wonderful Christmas season. As always, I’m a bit sad to see it all come to a close... it all seemed to come & go so quickly this year! I am, however, looking forward to sharing more about our Christmas soon & a fresh start to a new year in 2014!
